A large UK organisation with a mature data and analytics function is looking for a Data Engineer to join its central data team.
This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining data products that enable trusted reporting, analytics, and advanced AI initiatives. Working closely with analysts and business stakeholders, you will transform complex requirements into scalable, well-governed data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data models across modern data platform environments, including lakehouse, warehouse, and semantic modelling layers.
- Develop and support ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and associated technologies.
- Work with analysts and subject matter experts to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
- Support projects through the full lifecycle, from design and development to testing and production deployment.
- Ensure data products are performant, scalable, well-documented, and aligned with governance standards.
- Contribute to data quality improvement, monitoring, and issue resolution activities.
- Collaborate with wider data teams to support machine learning, predictive analytics, and AI use cases.
- Follow established deployment, governance, and change management processes.
Requirements
- Experience delivering data engineering solutions within a large-scale or enterprise environment.
- Strong SQL and data transformation skills.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks, and Semantic Models.
- Good understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and modern analytical architectures.
- Experience supporting reporting and analytics platforms, such as Power BI.
- Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
