Digital Forensic Investigator (Part-Time)

1-Year Fixed Term Contract £40,000 30 Hours Per Week (4 Days) Office-Based | Twickenham

We're seeking a skilled digital forensics professional to join a specialist investigations team, conducting forensic examinations of digital devices, producing evidential reports, and supporting investigations from initial seizure through to court proceedings.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with law enforcement, government, regulatory, or commercial digital forensics experience who enjoys technically challenging investigations and working to criminal evidential standards.

The Role

As a Digital Forensic Investigator, you'll be responsible for the forensic capture, preservation, analysis and reporting of digital evidence across a range of investigations.

Working closely with investigators, law enforcement partners and legal stakeholders, you'll provide forensic expertise throughout the investigative process, helping to identify evidential opportunities, develop forensic strategies and support successful outcomes.

You'll also play a key role in maintaining best practice standards and supporting ongoing ISO17025 accreditation activities within the digital forensic laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic examination and analysis of digital devices in line with legislation, NPCC guidance and industry best practice.
• Recover, analyse and preserve digital evidence to criminal evidential standards.
• Produce clear, accurate and defensible forensic reports.
• Attend searches and support investigative activity where digital forensic expertise is required.
• Liaise with law enforcement agencies, partner organisations and internal stakeholders.
• Develop forensic strategies to support investigations and prosecutions.
• Present forensic evidence and findings in court where required.
• Produce intelligence reports arising from forensic examinations.
• Research and assess emerging technologies, devices and methodologies.
• Support quality standards and ongoing ISO17025 accreditation requirements.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Experience conducting digital forensic examinations in law enforcement, government, military or commercial environments.
• Strong knowledge of forensic acquisition, analysis and reporting processes.
• Experience handling exhibits and maintaining evidential continuity.
• The ability to translate technical findings into clear reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience presenting evidence in court or supporting criminal investigations.

Desirable Certifications & Technical Skills

Applications from candidates holding recognised digital forensic qualifications are particularly welcome, including:

• EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE)
• X-Ways X-Pert Certification
• Nuix Forensic Practitioner Certification
• Cellebrite Certified Operator (CCO)
• Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA)

Experience using industry-standard forensic tools such as:

• EnCase
• X-Ways Forensics
• Cellebrite
• Nuix
• Other recognised forensic examination platforms

Knowledge & Legislation

Experience working within relevant UK legislation and guidance would be advantageous, including:

• Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE)
• Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA)
• Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA)
• Investigatory Powers Act (IPA)
• Computer Misuse Act
