- Liaising directly with customers to plan and prepare field visits.
- Preparing tools, test equipment, and materials—sometimes with short notice.
- Producing clear technical reports, timesheets and expense documentation.
- Maintaining and accounting for allocated vehicles, IT kit, mobile devices, and test instruments.
- Supporting datacoms and satcom testing, repairs and equipment builds in the workshop when needed.
- Conducting GMDSS surveys.
What we’re looking for
While the advert doesn’t specify qualifications, the role calls for a confident engineer with:
- Strong technical ability in electronics, communications, or IT systems.
- A proactive, organised approach to planning and reporting.
- The ability to travel across the UK as required.
- Confidence liaising with customers and working independently in the field.
What’s in it for you
You’ll be part of a knowledgeable, supportive engineering team working with advanced communication and satellite technologies—offering:
- A competitive salary up to £28,000 (replacing the original unspecified range).
- Exposure to cutting-edge satcoms, datacoms, and maritime technologies.
- Varied work across field service, workshop support, testing, commissioning, and customer-facing engineering.
- Long-term development opportunities within a growing engineering environment.
Why this role stands out
No two days are the same—one day you’re fault-finding onboard a vessel, the next you’re commissioning new systems or supporting workshop builds. It’s a fantastic role for someone who enjoys autonomy, technical challenge, and being part of a team with a strong “can-do” mindset.
