Join our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department as an Information Officer. This role is crucial for managing and safeguarding information rights and ensuring the protection of vulnerable individuals through meticulous information handling and disclosure practices.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Interrogate and analyze information from Force systems, assessing relevancy and interpreting data for disclosure in compliance with legal standards.
  • Prepare detailed disclosure reports, considering current legislation and guidelines, and manage caseloads to meet strict deadlines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Act as a decision-maker in preparing documentation and substantiating decisions involving transferable risks and legislative requirements.
  • Handle enquiries related to disclosure from external agencies, colleagues, and the public, ensuring decisions are accurate, relevant, and proportionate.
  • Apply and interpret legislation consistently, staying updated with changes in laws such as the Data Protection Act, GDPR, and Freedom of Information Act.
  • Promote good information management practices within the service and manage discrepancies or incomplete records on force systems.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed of emerging trends and legislative changes affecting information rights and disclosure.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educational attainment equivalent to City & Guilds Level III/A Levels/BTEC National in a relevant subject, or an approved equivalent. Candidates without these qualifications may need to pass the Critical Reasoning Test Battery Series.
  • Minimum of 1 year clerical experience including tasks like photocopying, filing, and updating records.
  • Numerical skills for basic calculations and statistics; enhanced literacy skills for composing memos, letters, and reports; proficient keyboard skills for database entry and spreadsheet use.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and operate both independently and as part of a team.
