As a Front-End Developer, you’ll help build high-quality web applications using React and TypeScript, improve existing features, and learn how to deliver secure, accessible, well-tested software. You’ll work closely with designers, developers, and product specialists to support the delivery of important public-facing digital services.
What you’ll be doing:
- Helping build and maintain web applications using React + TypeScript
- Writing clean, accessible, and responsive HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Working in an agile team alongside designers, engineers, and product specialists
- Integrating front-end components with APIs
- Contributing to code reviews and learning good engineering practices
- Writing unit tests and learning modern testing tools
- Supporting continuous improvement across the team and learning new skills
- Getting hands-on experience with cloud technologies and CI/CD pipelines
What you’ll learn and develop experience in:
- Building secure and scalable front-end solutions
- Working with modern frameworks and reusable components
- Understanding performance, accessibility, and good UI/UX principles
- Improving engineering processes and contributing ideas
- Collaborating in a supportive, modern development environment
Skills we’re looking for:
- Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Some experience with React (commercial or self-taught)
- Willingness to learn TypeScript and modern engineering practices
- Basic understanding of API integration
- Interest in writing clean, testable code
- A positive attitude, curiosity, and a desire to grow as a developer
Nice to have (but not essential):
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Experience with unit testing (Jest or similar)
- Exposure to CI/CD or version control tools like Git
- Interest in modern tooling, accessibility, and UI performance
Salary: up to £34K DOE
