Full Stack Developer

Location: Leeds (Hybrid)Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 DOE

The Opportunity

We’re supporting an innovative healthcare technology provider based in Leeds, known for modernising clinical and patient-facing systems. They are now looking for a Full Stack Developer skilled in the MERN stack to help build scalable applications that make a real difference in the healthcare sector.

This role suits someone who enjoys working across the full stack, delivering clean, performant code, and collaborating with engineering, data, and clinical technology teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building full-stack applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js.
• Designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services with Node.js/Express.
• Creating modern, responsive UI components using React (including Hooks).
• Working with MongoDB for data modelling, indexing, and performance optimisation.
• Ensuring security best practices — especially relevant for healthcare systems.
• Participating in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and platform improvement sessions.
• Debugging, troubleshooting, and enhancing system reliability and performance.
• Collaborating with product managers, UX designers, QA, and DevOps teams.

Tech Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Strong commercial experience with the MERN stack.
• Solid JavaScript and TypeScript knowledge.
• Experience building scalable REST APIs with Node.js and Express.
• Strong React skills (state management patterns, Hooks, reusable components).
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB / Mongoose.
• Git version control and CI/CD pipeline usage.
• Understanding of security and best practices – important for healthcare.

Nice to Have:

• Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with Docker and containerisation.
• Knowledge of GraphQL.
• Understanding of authentication (OAuth, JWT).
• Testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, Cypress, or Playwright.

• Passionate about clean code, best practices, and building meaningful software.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Detail-oriented, with a focus on maintainability, security, and system reliability.
