GIS Consultant
Reed Technology is delighted to be partnering with a leading Edinburgh-based organisation to recruit an experienced GIS Consultant.
As a GIS Consultant, you will play a key role in the design, delivery, and support of geospatial solutions for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and enhance GIS applications used across the business and client projects.
- Develop innovative GIS workflows and solutions that improve efficiency and support data-driven decision-making.
- Act as a subject matter expert for GIS data capture, spatial analysis, modelling, and cartographic services.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain ArcGIS Online applications and mobile GIS solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated geospatial processes and workflows.
- Manage, optimise, and maintain spatial databases.
- Support and administer web mapping services using GeoServer and related technologies.
- Provide technical GIS expertise and consultancy to both clients and internal teams.
Skills & Experience
- Proven industry experience providing GIS support across multiple projects, ideally within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Hands-on experience with QGIS, and/or ArcGis Pro / Online.
- Practical experience using FME Form and FME Flow for data integration, workflow automation, and system integrations.
- Experience designing, managing, and maintaining PostGIS/PostgreSQL spatial databases.
- Experience publishing, managing, and supporting web services using GeoServer.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Experience with Python scripting.
- Knowledge of ArcPy and ModelBuilder.
- Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Membership of, or willingness to work towards membership of, a recognised professional body such as Chartered Geographer (CGeog).
