We're seeking a Digital Assets & Financial Crime Lead to join a respected investigations and intelligence function, providing specialist expertise across cryptocurrency, blockchain analytics, financial crime risk, and enhanced due diligence.

This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on investigative work with strategic leadership, helping organisations navigate the rapidly evolving world of digital assets, sanctions exposure, fraud typologies, source of wealth analysis, and blockchain intelligence.

The Role

As the organisation's subject matter expert on digital assets and cryptocurrency-related risks, you will support complex due diligence reviews, corporate investigations, and financial crime enquiries.

You'll analyse blockchain activity, identify risk indicators, advise investigative teams, develop internal capability, and translate highly technical findings into clear, commercial, and defensible client reports.

Alongside investigative delivery, you'll play a key role in mentoring colleagues, developing best practice, and enhancing the organisation's overall capability in crypto-related intelligence and financial crime analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on all cryptocurrency, blockchain intelligence and digital asset-related enquiries.
  • Conduct specialist crypto analysis to support due diligence reviews, enhanced due diligence and corporate investigations.
  • Identify and assess financial crime risks including sanctions exposure, fraud indicators, suspicious wallet activity, source of funds concerns and high-risk associations.
  • Produce high-quality reports that convert complex blockchain findings into clear and actionable intelligence.
  • Advise investigation teams on appropriate research methodologies, tools and approaches.
  • Monitor emerging developments across crypto regulation, blockchain analytics, sanctions, fraud and financial crime trends.
  • Develop guidance, frameworks, typologies and best-practice resources.
  • Deliver training and mentoring to colleagues on cryptocurrency investigations and blockchain intelligence techniques.
  • Support the development of new methodologies, services and investigative capabilities.
  • Review and quality assure crypto-related investigative outputs.
  • Deliver enhanced due diligence analysis covering beneficial ownership, corporate structures, reputational risks, litigation and governance concerns.

About You

We're interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strong expertise in cryptocurrency, blockchain intelligence and digital asset ecosystems.
  • Experience within financial crime, investigations, intelligence analysis, due diligence or compliance environments.
  • Knowledge of sanctions screening, fraud typologies, source of funds/source of wealth assessments and risk identification.
  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to communicate technical findings to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Experience advising stakeholders and supporting investigative decision-making.
  • Strong attention to detail, integrity and sound professional judgement.

Desirable Experience

  • Blockchain analytics platforms (e.g. Chainalysis, TRM Labs, Elliptic).
  • Open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigations.
