I am working with an ambitious and exciting Tech driven start-up Payroll provider, they are seeking a driven, proactive and adaptable Head of Payroll Operations to oversee their UK and international payroll functions. This role is crucial for managing payroll service delivery across various sectors including Umbrella, CIS, and bureau services. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving client satisfaction and profitability, ensuring our payroll operations meet and exceed both client expectations and regulatory standards.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Handle a broad range of activities from signing up workers to direct client interactions, preparing for team expansion.
- Manage weekly payroll processes for approximately 150 Umbrella and 30 CIS workers.
- Assist with onboarding new workers, addressing their inquiries over the phone, and providing ongoing support especially concerning taxes and pensions.
- Lead projects aimed at enhancing systems and processes, ensuring our technology aligns with new opportunities and service standards.
- Oversee the integration of new clients and technologies, maintaining high service levels according to SLAs.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team to meet business objectives, conducting regular performance reviews and managing HR issues within your team.
- Support with broader Finance duties including bank reconciliations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in managing payroll operations, preferably on an international scale.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in team recruitment and training.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a track record of improving payroll systems and processes.
- Proficient in handling both strategic responsibilities and day-to-day operational tasks.
- Knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and procedural requirements.
- Effective communication skills, capable of working collaboratively across different departments and with external clients.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and lead system integration projects.
