A leading not-for-profit organisation is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Finance to join its senior leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping financial strategy, leading a high-performing finance and IT team, and supporting the organisation’s mission-driven work.
As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring robust financial planning, compliance, and sustainability. You will play a key role in strategic decision-making, working closely with the CEO, Board, and senior leadership to support the organisation’s long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead financial strategy and planning aligned with organisational objectives
- Provide insightful financial reporting and analysis to the CEO, Board, and senior team
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the corporate strategy and business plan
- Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and cost savings across departments
- Financial Management
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring
- Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain and improve financial systems, controls, and reporting processes
- Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies for annual reporting and audits
- Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team across finance, IT, and data
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
- Support staff development and performance management
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with funders, partners, and external stakeholders
- Ensure transparency and value-for-money in all financial communications
- Collaborate with internal teams to support cross-functional initiatives
- IT & Information Management
- Oversee the implementation of the organisation’s IT strategy
- Use data and benchmarking to inform decision-making and drive efficiency
What you’ll need to succeed!
- Fully Qualified or QBE Accountant. Fully qualified Accounting Technicians will also be considered, alongside experienced part-qualified Accountants.
- Minimum of 2-3 years previous experience in a similar role
- Excellent IT and Excel skills
- Experience of using a financial accounting package
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver a varied portfolio of work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills including planning, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
