About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic leader to join a progressive further education provider in the East Midlands as Head of Funding, Planning & Performance.
This senior role is responsible for leading the Management Information Systems (MIS) function, overseeing funding, registry, business intelligence, and examinations. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring data integrity, maximising funding income, and providing high-quality performance reporting to support both operational and strategic decision-making.
As a member of the senior management team, you will work closely with curriculum and leadership colleagues to drive data-informed improvements and ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements across Further Education, Apprenticeships, and Higher Education provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for MIS, including Registry, Exams, and Business Intelligence
- Oversee funding returns (ILR, HESES) and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
- Develop and enhance data systems, dashboards, and reporting tools to support performance management
- Lead on student data audits and ensure robust data quality assurance processes
- Work collaboratively with curriculum and apprenticeship teams to maximise funding opportunities
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and examination frameworks
- Promote a strong data-driven culture across the organisation
- Develop and manage high-performing teams
About You
We are looking for a confident and forward-thinking leader who brings:
- Significant experience in MIS, funding, or data management within education
- Strong understanding of FE/HE funding methodologies and reporting requirements
- Proven experience managing complex data systems and producing insightful reporting
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build strong cross-functional relationships
- Experience of leading and developing teams
- Strong technical and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Knowledge of examination regulations and data compliance (desirable)
A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field is required.
