A Greater Manchester Council are seeking a Head of Information Governance to lead and manage an information governance team. This role is crucial for ensuring the application of legislative requirements and best practice standards in information assurance, rights, records management, and data standards across our complex organisation.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead and manage the information governance team, initiating and implementing projects to meet specific, agreed objectives.
- Develop and roll out the Council’s Information strategy, policies, principles, and framework, including developing workstreams and business cases supporting best practice.
- Act as the Council’s Deputy SIRO, supporting and representing the Council’s SIRO at local, regional, and national meetings.
- Keep up to date with information governance thinking, including legislation, guidance, and national and local policy, and advise the Corporate and Executive Leadership accordingly.
- Develop an IG risk management report that consolidates management information from a corporate risk perspective, security incidents, data breaches, and other IG risks.
- Work with senior officers to recognise Information as a business resource, support specific projects, and provide training on Information Governance matters in conjunction with the Data Protection Officer.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in information assurance, rights, records management, and data standards.
- Proven experience in leading, developing, and motivating a team.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in generating performance reporting.
- Ability to represent and negotiate on behalf of the Council in strategic Information Governance areas.
