IT Director
Director of IT Location: Hertfordshire (full time in the office to start with, then Hybrid working thereafter)Salary: £100,000–£120,000 + strong bonus
My client is seeking a seasoned Director of IT to lead, develop and scale a global IT function. This is a strategic leadership role requiring exceptional communication skills, the ability to motivate teams, and a strong track record of building high-performing global IT departments.
The Role
You will define and deliver the IT strategy, overseeing enterprise systems, applications, and infrastructure to support business growth. You will lead a global team across multiple regions (e.g. UK, US, India, China), ensuring operational excellence, system reliability, and strong user adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the IT roadmap aligned to business goals
- Build, lead, and develop a global IT team, fostering performance and engagement
- Oversee enterprise applications, including ERP (ideally NetSuite), integrations, and data flows
- Ensure system stability, performance, and continuous improvement
- Manage vendors, budgets, and external partners effectively
- Drive governance, compliance, and data management best practices
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and leadership to deliver business value
- Identify strengths and development areas within the team to optimise performance
Requirements
- 8–10+ years’ IT experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
- Proven experience managing global IT teams and environments
- Experience in multi-entity, global organisations
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and Microsoft technologies (O365, Power BI, SharePoint)
- Solid understanding of finance, procurement, and operational systems
- Experience with IT governance, compliance, and lifecycle management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills
Desirable
- ERP experience would be ideal (NetSuite preferred) and understanding of integrations (APIs, iPaaS tools such as Boomi or Celigo)
- Exposure to CRM, payroll, and financial system integrations
- Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or ERP-related qualifications
