Category Lead – ICT Procurement

We’re seeking a dynamic Category Lead – ICT Procurement to take ownership of complex ICT procurement and contract management activities. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape category strategy, lead multi-million-pound negotiations, and manage critical supplier relationships — all while driving value for money, compliance, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic ICT procurement and contract management across high-value projects.
 - Develop and implement category strategies that manage risk and maximise value.
 - Provide expert commercial advice and lead complex negotiations.
 - Manage supplier relationships and ensure robust contract delivery.
 - Oversee a team of up to four procurement professionals, ensuring capacity and capability.
 - Engage stakeholders proactively, using procurement data to support decision-making.
 - Identify and resolve risks and issues to meet performance targets.
 - Deputise for senior leadership in project boards and external forums.
 
About You
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and resilient professional with:
- Proven ICT procurement experience in the UK public sector.
 - Strong knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023.
 - Expertise in category management, supplier relationship management, and risk assessment.
 - Skilled in commercial negotiations and contract management.
 - ICT-specific commercial knowledge and familiarity with public sector frameworks.
 - Experience with procurement systems such as SAP S4/HANA, Ariba, and In-tend (desirable).
 - Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate teams through change.
 - Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
 - Strategic thinking and a growth mindset.
 - MCIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
