IT Procurement Manager

I’m currently recruiting on behalf of London Fire Brigade (LFB) for an experienced IT Procurement Manager to lead a portfolio of high-impact procurement initiatives that directly support the Brigade’s savings programme and major technology projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join one of London’s most recognisable public service organisations, shaping the commercial delivery of complex, future-focused digital and technology programmes.

  • Day Rate: Up to £500 per day (via Umbrella)
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • IR35: Inside IR35
  • Location: Southwark (1–2 days per week) + flexible hybrid working

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Procurement – Technology, Collaboration & Complex Transactions, you will operate as a senior, hands-on procurement lead with responsibility for delivering several medium-to-high profile projects. While there are no line management responsibilities, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and technical teams across LFB to ensure commercially robust, compliant and value-driven outcomes.

This is a 12-month Inside IR35 assignment, with an expected April start date (subject to background checks and onboarding). The role offers hybrid working, typically 1–2 days per week in the London HQ depending on in-person meeting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Special Projects Delivery

You will lead or support a range of strategic procurement initiatives, including:

  • Cyber Security Consultancy Framework (Lead) – designing and establishing a new LFB cyber security framework.
  • Command Unit – IT Procurement (Lead) – managing end-to-end procurement for technology supporting command unit operations.
  • Drones Technology & Equipment (Support) – contributing to procurement activities for specialist drone technology.
  • E-tendering System Procurement (Support) – supporting the procurement of the new e-tendering solution for LFB.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Managing related contract activities via SAP, including supplier negotiations and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver transparent, compliant and commercially strong outcomes.
  • Navigating complex governance, public sector regulation and commercial frameworks.

Savings & Commercial Delivery

  • Support the delivery of departmental savings targets through intelligent negotiation, commercial challenge and opportunity identification.
  • Work closely with Finance Business Partners to align and report progress on savings delivery.
  • Contribute to wider category strategy development alongside Heads of Procurement.
  • Support the creation of contract management plans for strategically important agreements.

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • A strong public sector procurement background, ideally with experience under PPR/PA23 regulations.
  • A proven track record in running complex, multi-stakeholder IT or technology procurements.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to drive commercial value.
  • Confidence working independently while building strong collaborative relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
  • The ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously within a regulated environment.
  • Experience in category strategy and contract management.

If you’re a seasoned public sector IT procurement professional ready to take on a role with real impact across a vital London service, I’d love to hear from you.
