IT Security Engineer

Reed Technology is delighted to be partnering with a well-established Aberdeen-based organisation to recruit an IT Security Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for an IT security professional to play a key role in strengthening and maintaining the organisation's security posture, ensuring security is embedded across infrastructure, systems, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve IT security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Monitor and assess the organisation's security posture, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
• Support vulnerability management activities, security monitoring, incident response, and reporting.
• Support the design and implementation of secure IT solutions and services.
• Maintain and oversee the enterprise backup environment.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, third-party providers, and managed security service partners.
• Support internal and external security audits and compliance activities.
• Deliver security awareness initiatives, user education, and security testing exercises.
• Participate in security projects and collaborate with wider IT and engineering teams.

Skills & Experience

• 3+ years' experience in Cyber Security, Information Security, or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards including NIST, CIS, and ISO 27001.
• Experience implementing and managing IT security solutions and controls.
• Good understanding of vulnerability management, security monitoring, and incident response.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ideally holding relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or ISSAP.
