IT Stores Assistant
- Location: Sheffield City Centre
- Salary: £17.18 per hour PAYE
- Job Type: Interim, Full-time
- Hours: Typically 9:00am – 5:00pm
We are seeking a highly organised and customer-focused IT Stores Assistant to join our Collections and Returns Team on a temporary basis. Based within a busy collections and returns room, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management of IT equipment, assisting colleagues with collections and returns, and ensuring an efficient and professional service is delivered to internal customers.
Day-to-day of the role:
Collections & Returns Operations:
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors attending the collections and returns room.
- Welcome and assist staff collecting or returning equipment.
- Support engineers and colleagues with reserved equipment collections.
- Respond to queries and direct customers to the appropriate teams where required.
- Help maintain an organised, efficient, and professional environment during opening hours.
Equipment & Asset Management:
- Record and update equipment information using service management and asset management systems.
- Process the collection, return, and tracking of leased IT equipment, including laptops and mobile phones.
- Maintain accurate records within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Ensure stock and equipment locations are accurately documented and monitored.
Stock & Deliveries:
- Assist with scheduled equipment deliveries and stock management activities.
- Move equipment and stock between storage locations when required.
- Support regular stock checks and inventory activities.
- Contribute to maintaining a tidy, organised, and secure storage environment.
Customer Service:
- Deliver excellent customer service to a wide range of internal stakeholders, including employees, managers, and senior leaders.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in person, by email, and over the phone.
- Resolve routine queries efficiently and escalate issues where appropriate.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in an administrative, customer service, or operational support role.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining records.
- Confidence using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Professional and customer-focused approach.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience of stock control, asset management, or inventory management.
- Experience using service management or asset tracking systems.
- Basic understanding of IT equipment such as laptops and mobile devices.
