The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established and growing organisation looking to appoint an IT Support Engineer to join their internal IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an IT support background who is keen to broaden their experience across infrastructure, systems administration, and software development.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring business-critical systems remain operational and efficient, while also contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of internal applications and reporting solutions.

This role would suit a technically minded individual who enjoys problem-solving, continuous improvement, and working in a varied environment where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line support across the business, ensuring users can effectively utilise IT systems and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Set up and onboard new users, including hardware deployment and account provisioning.
  • Administer and maintain business systems, servers, and IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor and proactively identify system inefficiencies, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation for systems and processes.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and business systems.
  • Recommend hardware, software, and infrastructure improvements to support business growth.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant health & safety requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies including:
    • Windows 10/11
    • Windows Server
    • Microsoft 365
    • Active Directory
  • Passion for IT and a proactive approach to learning and development.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Previous IT Support or Service Desk experience.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows-based systems.
  • Networking knowledge including:
    • VLANs
    • Routing
    • Firewalls
    • Wireless technologies
    • Structured cabling
  • Server and virtualisation experience including:
    • VMware
    • Windows Server environments
  • Software development experience using:
    • C#
    • .NET
    • ASP.NET WebForms
    • WinForms
  • SQL Server experience including querying, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with ticketing or service management systems.
