Information Access Manager
Join the London Fire Brigade as an Information Access Manager. This role is crucial in managing information access requests and ensuring compliance with information access legislation. You will be instrumental in supporting the Brigade's vision of being a dynamic, forward-looking organisation, fully engaged with the communities we serve.
Location: Southwark – Hybrid work (two days in the office and three days from home)
Pay rate: £23.85 per hour PAYE or £30.97 per hour Umbrella (Inside of IR35)
Day-to-day of the role:
- Manage and process information access requests in accordance with the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Provide advice and support to staff on handling information access requests.
- Assist in managing complaints and investigations related to breaches of information access legislation.
- Develop and deliver training programmes to improve compliance and practices within the Brigade.
- Coordinate amendments and deletions to Data Protection notifications and the Brigade’s publication scheme.
- Maintain and update information on the Brigade's external and internal websites related to Information Access.
- Develop and maintain contacts with relevant departments and external organisations to share best practices and improve services.
- Represent the department at both internal and external meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with information access legislation, including the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.
- Proven ability to organise, plan, and prioritise work, meeting deadlines and targets while working flexibly within a team.
- Proficiency in a range of Information Technology applications and an understanding of their use in information access contexts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences and maintain high standards of customer care.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Good working knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation and its practical application.
