Interim Contract

We are currently supporting a valued client in the recruitment of an Interim Information Governance Assistant to provide additional support throughout September, with the possibility of the assignment being extended beyond the initial term.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced governance professional to join a collaborative team and support a broad range of information governance, compliance, complaints, and administrative activities across the organisation.

The Role

Reporting into the wider governance function, you will provide hands-on support across a varied workload, helping to ensure compliance with statutory obligations and internal governance processes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing and coordinating Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and associated correspondence.
  • Supporting compliance with Data Protection legislation, including assisting with Subject Access Requests (SARs) and data protection queries.
  • Managing and coordinating complaints, ensuring accurate recording, investigation support, and timely responses.
  • Providing administrative support across governance, compliance, and information management activities.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of governance records, registers, and documentation.
  • Supporting the review, monitoring, and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to gather information and ensure statutory deadlines are met.
  • Helping to identify and escalate compliance risks where appropriate.
  • Supporting general information governance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assisting the wider team with ad hoc governance, compliance, and administrative projects as required.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience within an Information Governance, Data Protection, Compliance, Complaints, or Governance Support position.
  • Practical experience handling or supporting Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
  • Good working knowledge of UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
  • Experience processing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to supporting colleagues across the organisation.
  • Experience working within a public sector, regulated, or governance-focused environment would be advantageous.
