A large organisation with an established data and analytics function is seeking a Data Scientist to join its central Data & AI team.
This is an opportunity to help shape the organisation's machine learning and predictive analytics capability, using large-scale operational datasets to deliver actionable insights that support better decision-making. Working closely with technical teams and business stakeholders, you will develop advanced analytical solutions that identify future risks, opportunities, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning and statistical techniques.
- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, risks, and performance opportunities.
- Work with stakeholders to define business problems, test hypotheses, and design data-led interventions.
- Clearly communicate analytical findings, assumptions, limitations, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure suitable data structures for analytics and machine learning use cases.
- Monitor model performance and recommend improvements as business needs evolve.
- Document methodologies, data sources, and modelling approaches in line with governance standards.
Requirements
- Experience delivering data science and predictive analytics solutions within a commercial or operational environment.
- Strong Python and SQL skills with experience building production-ready analytical solutions.
- Experience developing, validating, and deploying machine learning models.
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling techniques, including forecasting, classification, regression, clustering, and optimisation.
- Experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, Synapse, or similar technologies.
- Ability to translate complex business challenges into structured analytical solutions.
- Strong data visualisation and storytelling skills, ideally using Power BI or similar tools.
- Experience working with large, complex, and imperfect datasets.
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
