up to £58,000 + £3,500 London Allowance + £900 Lunch Allowance Location: Canary Wharf (with occasional UK/Ireland travel) Working Pattern: 9am–5:30pm | 9-day fortnight (Work Monday–Friday in Week 1, Monday–Thursday in Week 2)
About the Role
My client is looking for an experienced Network & Communications Engineer to support and operate their UK and Ireland enterprise and OT (Operational Technology) network environments. This is a hands-on, London-based role offering a rare 9-day fortnight working pattern and the opportunity to work with modern, complex, business-critical infrastructure.
You’ll collaborate with a highly skilled UK and US Infrastructure team and take ownership of advanced network, voice, and security environments across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
You will play a lead role in the design, operation, and support of enterprise network services, including:
Core Networking & Unified Communications
- Support Unified Communications systems (Cisco CUCM/CME, SIP) across UK, Ireland and the US.
- Own and manage complex routing/switching environments (EIGRP, BGP, QoS, L2/L3).
- Design, install, and support WAN, LAN and Voice infrastructure.
Network Operations & Troubleshooting
- Lead troubleshooting, upgrades, cutovers and infrastructure enhancements.
- Perform advanced packet/traffic analysis using NetScout and Wireshark.
- Manage data connectivity (MPLS, broadband, LTE) and WAN optimisation.
Security & OT Environments
- Deliver secure network services including firewalls, VPNs, and OT/Process Control security (FortiGate).
- Support both enterprise and OT network environments in critical operational sites.
Tools, Automation & Documentation
- Automate and manage configurations (scripts, HP Network Automation, SolarWinds NCM).
- Own and develop high-quality documentation, diagrams and designs (Visio).
- Support wireless environments (Aruba and Cisco).
Team Engagement & On-Call
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical leadership to stakeholders at all levels.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (approx. 3 weeks per year).
Requirements
- Extensive experience in enterprise network and communications engineering.
- Strong capability across routing, switching, voice, wireless and security.
- Demonstrable experience supporting highly complex, business-critical systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS, or related field (preferred).
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to undertake occasional UK/Ireland travel.
- Valid passport and full UK driving licence (required).
- Flexibility for out-of-hours/weekend work when necessary.
- Ability to meet site safety requirements.
- Must be able to achieve a clean face-seal for tight-fitting respiratory protective equipment when accessing certain operational sites.
