This isn’t a role where you’ll be stuck maintaining legacy code or working in silos. You’ll be part of a collaborative, modern engineering environment where your ideas are valued, your voice is heard, and your work directly influences the user experience at scale.
The role
Joining an established but evolving tech function, you’ll play a key role in shaping, building, and enhancing a suite of web applications used across the business.
Expect variety from developing robust back-end systems in Laravel, to crafting smooth, responsive user interfaces, to contributing to architectural discussions and future roadmap decisions.
You’ll work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, giving you real exposure and the chance to see the tangible impact of your work.
Within the role:
- Designing and building scalable web applications using PHP (Laravel)
- Creating clean, intuitive front-end experiences with modern JavaScript, HTML & CSS
- Working with databases (MySQL/SQLite) to ensure performance and reliability
- Integrating APIs and third-party tools to enhance functionality
- Deploying and maintaining applications in AWS cloud environments
- Troubleshooting, optimising, and improving system performance
- Collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality, user-focused solutions
- Contributing to code reviews, technical direction, and best practices
Skills:
- Strong experience with PHP and Laravel (this is key)
- Solid front-end skills (React or Vue would be ideal)
- Experience working with APIs, databases, and cloud services (AWS)
- A good understanding of modern development practices, CI/CD, and Agile
- Someone who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in clean, efficient code
- A team player who’s equally comfortable working independently
Bonus points if you’ve dabbled in React Native, CMS platforms, or analytics integrations - but not essential.
