We are seeking a highly experienced Payroll Project Manager to lead and deliver a critical payroll transformation project within a well-established organisation. This role is central to the successful implementation, optimisation, and ongoing management of Kronos (UKG) timekeeping systems, ensuring seamless payroll operations across multiple departments and locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the payroll systems project, with a strong focus on the implementation and enhancement of Kronos time and attendance solutions.
- Act as the Kronos subject matter expert, overseeing system configuration, upgrades, and maintenance to support accurate payroll processing.
- Manage system security, user access, and role-based permissions within Kronos.
- Audit and validate timekeeping data to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline payroll workflows and enhance system efficiency.
- Deliver training and support to managers, supervisors, and employees on Kronos usage and best practices.
- Collaborate with IT, vendors, and third-party providers to resolve technical issues and ensure system integrity.
- Oversee end-to-end in-house payroll processing, maintaining a high standard of service akin to a client payroll bureau.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including PAYE, NI, pensions, and holiday pay legislation.
- Manage payroll adjustments such as overtime, bonuses, and variable payments.
- Support year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds, ensuring alignment with HMRC guidelines.
- Provide second-line support for complex payroll queries and mentor junior team members.
- Produce detailed reports and maintain audit trails for internal and external review.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in leading payroll system projects, particularly involving Kronos (UKG).
- CIPP qualification is highly desirable.
- Strong background in in-house payroll processing, ideally with client-style service delivery or bureau experience.
- Deep understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing payroll across multiple departments or cost centres.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and project management capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
