We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Performance Test Engineer to design, implement, and execute performance testing strategies, ensuring our applications meet high standards of speed, scalability, and reliability under load. This role involves close collaboration with the Non-Functional Test Lead, Programme Test Lead, developers, DevOps, and product managers to optimise system performance.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Design and develop performance test plans, scenarios, scripts, and test data.
• Execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests across web and backend systems.
• Analyse test results and system metrics to identify performance issues and root causes.
• Create, maintain, and enhance performance testing frameworks and tools.
• Provide detailed performance test reports and dashboards, with actionable recommendations based on test outcomes.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
• Automate performance test execution as part of CI/CD pipelines where feasible.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Performance Test Engineer in mid to large organisations.
• Knowledge of Ephemeral environments and their implications for performance testing.
• Strong proficiency with performance testing tools such as JMeter, K6, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
• Strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and their implications on performance testing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Awareness of security/performance hybrid scenarios (e.g., DDoS resilience, load-based authentication testing).
