Platform Engineer Security & AI

We are working with a growing tech-led organisation who are strengthening their security function while building out new AI and automation capabilities. This is a brand-new position sitting across both the Security team and the AI/Automation team, giving you a genuine opportunity to become their go-to specialist for security within AI and cloud platforms.

What makes this role different

  • It's a new headcount — you’ll help shape how cloud and AI security is done.
  • Huge investment into technology and a brand-new office  with multiple new product launches underway.
  • They need someone who can build and deploy, not just advise — this is hands-on engineering

Core Responsibilities

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Build, deploy and manage secure cloud infrastructure, primarily in Google Cloud Platform.
  • Heavy use of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code to deliver scalable, secure cloud services.
  • Work with GCP components including BigQuery, helping to support the organisation’s analytical and data platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps, Platform, and AI teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

Security Engineering & AI

  • Apply a security mindset to cloud builds, deployments, and automation pipelines.
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of the organisation’s cloud security model.
  • Work with the AI/Automation team to understand security threats and best practice around emerging AI technologies.
  • Educate the wider security team on AI-related risks, vulnerabilities, and use cases.

Threat Detection & Response

  • Support monitoring, detection, and incident response within cloud environments.
  • Help mature vulnerability management processes and security playbooks.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure cloud services align with recognised frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, SOC2, PCI, GDPR).
  • Assist with risk assessments for new systems, cloud services, and third-party integrations.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Act as the bridge between the Security team and the AI team.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Legal, and Technology teams on secure delivery.

What They’re Looking For

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (AWS exposure also useful).
  • Solid knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Ability to build and deploy cloud solutions independently.
  • Understanding of security principles: IAM, networking, encryption, monitoring tools, etc.
  • Awareness of security frameworks and best practices.
  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Who This Would Suit

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Comes from a Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or DevOps background.
  • Enjoys security but doesn’t want a pure SOC/blue-team role.
  • Wants to work on new AI initiatives and become the security SME for AI within the company.
  • Likes hybrid working and being part of a modern, forward-thinking tech environment.

Key Benefits & Perks

  • Permanent Four-Day Week – Enjoy a full-time salary while working just four days (usually Monday or Friday off).
  • Hybrid Working – Flexibility to balance office and home working.
  • Annual Bonus – Up to 10% performance-related bonus.
  • Strong Pension Plan – 8% employer contribution (2% employee).
  • Private Healthcare – Includes a Health Cash Plan for dental and optical costs.
  • Family-Friendly Policies – Enhanced maternity, adoption and paternity packages.
  • £200 “All About Me” Fund – Spend on personal development or learning something new
