Policing National Systems Office Data Officer

 A law enforcement organisation based in Hampshire is seeking a Policing National Systems Office (PNSO) Data Officer to support the management, governance and integrity of national policing databases and systems, ensuring compliance with national operating rules and supporting investigations across policing.

This role plays a critical part in upholding national data standards, safeguarding sensitive information, and ensuring the lawful, accurate and consistent use of national police systems. You will work closely with internal teams, partner forces and national agencies to support operational policing and collaborative working.

This is an initial 6-month contract based in Netley, Hampshire and will be based in the office, the hourly rate for the role is £15.72 per hour + holiday and benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain data within national policing systems, ensuring compliance with national operating rules and legislation
  • Apply and interpret national standards including:
    • PNC / PND
    • LEDS
    • Management of Police Information (MoPI)
    • Freedom of Information Act
  • Assess data requests to determine operational need, sensitivity, value and lawful disclosure
  • Identify, test and maintain data quality controls, anticipating risks of inaccurate or inappropriate data sharing
  • Produce clear reports highlighting risks, issues and recommendations for improvement
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing specialist advice and guidance across the Force
  • Support access management, including issuing and managing IL4 IAM Smartcards
  • Liaise with other departments, forces and partner agencies to support national programmes and collaborative initiatives
  • Handle all sensitive information in line with force policies, GDPR and information governance requirements

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Previous experience in accessing Police Systems: PNC, RMS (updating), NABIS, PND and project support work. 
  • Experience working in a busy office environment using computerised data systems
  • Experience cross-referencing complex systems and maintaining accurate records
  • Experience undertaking quality assurance or data checking activities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Educated to QCF Level 2 (including Maths & English) or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Knowledge of policing systems, the Criminal Justice System, or force structures
  • Understanding of national data standards or information governance
  • RSA II or equivalent qualification
