Data Analyst

  • Job Type: Contract (3 months)
  • Salary: £34.29 per hour

 This role is central to our strategic plan, focusing on using data to measure progress and enhance our services. You will be a key member of the corporate insight team, developing Power BI dashboards and ensuring our data systems empower us to deliver high-quality services to our residents.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Power BI dashboards, defining key metrics and developing calculations and measures that are accurate and performant on large datasets.
  • Set up processes to ingest data from various sources and perform required transformations using Power Query/M-code/DAX.
  • Design and optimise Power BI navigation features to guide users through a compelling data story.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to produce documentation and SQL scripts for data transformation.
  • Create insightful, interactive, and aesthetically pleasing reporting solutions in Power BI.
  • Manage dashboards, data sources, security, schedules, extracts, and workspaces.
  • Support the Data Analyst community with Power BI dashboard development; design and deliver impactful dashboards for a range of stakeholders, ensuring they are user-friendly.
  • Develop Quality Assurance procedures for the development of Power BI dashboards and disseminate across the data analytical community.
  • Provide technical support to new users of Power BI.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Significant experience with Power BI, including developing end-to-end reporting and deployment processes, preferably in a public sector organisation.
  • Solid data modelling capabilities and fluent in DAX code.
  • Ability to write and structure efficient SQL queries.
  • Professional certification in Power BI (e.g., PL300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst).
  • Experience ensuring WCAG (2.1/2.2) Accessibility Compliance in reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse problems and identify creative, realistic solutions.
  • Expert knowledge of information governance and data security best practices, rules, and regulations.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship skills and the ability to influence and gather requirements systematically.
