Principal Appian Developer
A leading UK defence organisation is seeking an experienced Principal Appian Developer to join their growing team. This is a newly created role offering the opportunity to lead a team of developers and deliver high-quality workflow solutions that support critical business operations.
The role can be either based at the organisation's Bristol or Leicester sites (hybrid working). This is a new permanent role with a salary banding up to £80,000 along with an excellent benefits package.
Security Clearance Requirement
Applicants must be sole UK nationals and eligible to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
About the Role
As Principal Appian Developer, you will take a leadership role in the design, development, and delivery of workflow applications. You’ll guide a team of developers, ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery of solutions aligned with business needs.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and mentoring a team of developers.
- Designing and developing new workflow applications using Appian and other BPM tools.
- Reviewing requirements, modelling processes, and conducting unit testing and deployment.
- Enhancing existing applications through continuous improvement.
- Ensuring adherence to IT quality plans and procedures.
- Collaborating with stakeholders through workshops, reviews, and stand-ups.
- Preparing documentation to support completed applications.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in software development, particularly with BPM platforms such as Appian.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with waterfall, iterative, and agile delivery methodologies.
- Proficiency in development tools including IDEs and source code management.
- Skilled in business process modelling using UML and BPMN techniques.
