Cloud Digital Product Manager

  • Contract Duration: 10 months
  • Rate: £560 per day (inside IR35)
  • Location: Hybrid (3 days in Exeter, 2 days remote)
  • Security Clearance: SC clearance required

Join a leading organisation as a Cloud Digital Product Manager to play a pivotal role in modernising the technology foundations critical for weather and climate services. This role is ideal for an experienced Product Manager who is ready to shape and enhance internal platforms that support developers, scientists, and service teams.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop a business case for investing in service enhancements and manage engagements with third-party suppliers.
  • Own the roadmap and backlog for one or more shared technology platforms, ensuring alignment with the product vision.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and delivery teams to deliver incremental improvements that enhance ease of use and maintenance of platforms.
  • Understand the needs of internal users, from developers to operations staff, and translate these into clear priorities.
  • Develop measurable service outcomes such as adoption, usability, and performance, and track progress using data.
  • Balance the need for short-term reliability with long-term sustainability and compliance.
  • Facilitate collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicating trade-offs transparently.
  • Promote product-led, user-informed, iterative ways of working within a complex, legacy/brownfield environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing developer infrastructure products and associated cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Experience managing commercial services and third-party service integrations.
  • Strong capability to apply and adapt Agile and Lean practices within an engineering-focused team.
  • Deep understanding of user-centred product development, advocating for user-centred design principles.
  • Skilled in prioritising by outcomes, using methods like impact vs. effort or cost-of-delay.
  • Confident in working with cross-disciplinary teams and senior technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable in environments with legacy systems, competing priorities, and incomplete information.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical issues into clear decisions and trade-offs.

Measures of Success (6–12 Months):

  • Renewal of cloud technology contracts and supporting services.
  • Clear, agreed roadmap for your platform area.
  • Well-defined and prioritised backlog supporting the roadmap and operational needs.
  • Measurable improvement in adoption or usability for key internal users.
  • Positive feedback from engineering and architecture stakeholders.
  • Introduction of at least one lightweight product practice improving visibility, flow, or learning.
