Regulatory & Infrastructure Investment Analyst

We are currently seeking an experienced Regulatory & Infrastructure Investment Analysts to join the Investment Determinations Team. This role involves a significant contribution to one of the UK's most crucial infrastructure investment programmes, focusing on major electricity transmission investment applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects that are pivotal to the UK's energy transition.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Review and conduct quality assurance checks on major infrastructure investment and funding submissions.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and areas of non-compliance in applications and supporting evidence.
- Carry out initial assessments of business cases and investment proposals.
- Draft questions and information requests for applicant organisations.
- Prepare handover packs and assessment summaries for the Investment Determinations Team.
- Assess costs, benefits, and investment rationale while reviewing commercial assumptions and supporting evidence.
- Support benchmarking and comparative analysis activities and contribute to evidence-based decision support materials.
- Capture lessons learned from previous assessment rounds and help improve assessment frameworks, templates, and guidance.
- Engage with electricity transmission companies, support workshops, meetings, and information-gathering activities, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to review complex business cases, funding submissions, or investment proposals.
- Experience working within governance, assurance, or regulatory frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proven track record in assurance and assessment activities, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, risks, and areas of non-compliance.
- Experience in evaluating investment rationale, costs, benefits, and supporting evidence to support robust decision-making.
- Desirable: RIIO price control experience, electricity transmission or wider energy-sector knowledge, and regulatory assessment or assurance experience.
