SAP Pensions Officer

Are you an experienced Pensions or Payroll professional with strong SAP experience and a background in system implementations, testing, and payroll projects?

We are supporting a major payroll transformation programme and are looking for a SAP Pensions Officer to play a key role in the implementation and testing of a new payroll system. This is not a traditional BAU payroll position. Instead, you will be heavily involved in project activities including testing, data validation, reconciliation, and go-live support.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can confidently work within SAP, understands payroll and pensions processes, and has experience supporting system implementations or upgrades

Contract: 6 months

Location: Guildhall, EC2V

Payrate: £25-£28 PAYE (£30 per hr for strong SAP + project exp)

Working arrangements: Full-time Monday to Friday - 3 days per week office based - must be open to be on site during key project phases.

The Role

Working as part of a high-profile payroll transformation project, you will support the successful implementation of a new payroll platform by ensuring data accuracy, robust testing, and effective stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), parallel payroll runs, and testing cycles
  • Validating and reconciling payroll and pension data
  • Identifying, tracking, and resolving defects and system issues
  • Supporting payroll system configuration and change activities
  • Process mapping and documentation of payroll and pensions procedures
  • Working closely with HR, Finance, IT teams, and external system partners
  • Providing critical support during key project milestones and go-live activities

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have genuine payroll or pensions project experience and can add value from day one.

Essential Experience

  • Strong hands-on SAP experience (this is the key requirement)
  • Experience supporting payroll or pensions system implementations, upgrades, or transformations
  • Experience with UAT, testing cycles, parallel runs, and reconciliation activities
  • Strong understanding of payroll and pension processes
  • Experience working with payroll systems such as SAP, iTrent, Civica, or similar
  • Ability to analyse data, identify issues, and support system improvements

Desirable

  • Pensions administration experience within an SAP environment
  • Public sector experience
  • Experience working on multiple payroll system implementations
  • CIPP qualification or similar (desirable only, not essential)

What's Important

This role would suit someone who can:

  • Log into SAP and confidently navigate and work within the system
  • Support testing, validation, and project activities with minimal supervision
  • Work effectively with multiple stakeholders across Payroll, HR, Finance, and IT
  • Be available to support critical project phases and go-live activities

Please note: We are not seeking a Payroll Administrator whose experience is limited to payroll processing or timesheet entry. We are specifically looking for candidates who have worked on payroll or pensions projects and have hands-on systems and testing experience.

If you have strong SAP experience and a track record of supporting payroll or pensions system projects, we'd love to hear from you.
