Location: Redhill  Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £34,398 - £48,913 per year (M1 - UPS1 Fringe) Plus Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers Hours: 40 hours per week - Start time 8.15am. Finish times: Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.45pm, Tuesday 5pm, Friday 4pm

Reed Education is excited to partner with a newly opened SEND Secondary School in Redhill, catering to young people aged 11-16 with needs typically associated with Autism. This includes support for social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing. The school offers a broad and exciting curriculum, tailored to the individual needs, interests, and passions of each student. With small class sizes and a robust multi-disciplinary support team, the school is dedicated to providing every student with every opportunity to succeed.

Role Purpose:

The ICT Teacher will deliver high-quality teaching and learning for children and young people with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs. The role involves adapting to various learning difficulties and managing challenging behaviours effectively.

Successful candidate qualities: 

  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training. 
  • Ability to teach ICT up to and including GCSE level 
  • Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND. 
  • Evidence of sound knowledge of the national curriculum.  
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of autism and associated conditions and how these can affect learning. 
  • Curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the ICT curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Collaborate with other staff members as part of a multi-disciplinary team to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Utilise and adapt short, medium, and long-term plans to deliver the curriculum effectively.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised learning targets to optimise student learning.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress to parents, team members, and relevant bodies as per school policies.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Maintain structured lessons that keep students motivated and engaged, ensuring pace and challenge are appropriate.
  • Stay informed on current issues in the field of autism to plan effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Manage challenging behaviours in accordance with school policies and procedures.
