Senior Category Manager

Overview: A leading organisation within the financial services sector is seeking an experienced IT Category Manager to join its procurement team on an Interim basis. This is a strategic role focused on managing technology spend, vendor relationships, and driving commercial value across IT procurement activities. Initially, this will be a 3 month interim contract, requiring 1 day per week in the London office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead IT category management initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes including RFPs, SLAs, and commercial models.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors to ensure effective delivery of products and services.
  • Provide expert input on IT contractual elements including integration, data protection, and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the vendor lifecycle – sourcing, procurement, and vendor management.
  • Act as a strategic advisor, championing procurement best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor market trends and vendor capabilities to inform sourcing strategies.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in IT category management or a similar procurement role, ideally within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and contractual frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of the IT industry and vendor landscape.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and planning capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence at all levels.
