Senior Content Designer

Reed Technology is supporting a company based in Edinburgh, as they look to hire a Senior Content Designer.

In this role you'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team and help shape and improve public services through clear, accessible and evidence-led content.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead and deliver content design work for public sector projects.
  • Write, edit and improve clear, accessible content for digital and offline services.
  • Work with user researchers, service designers, product managers, business analysts, delivery teams and technical specialists to understand user needs and improve content based on feedback and evidence.
  • Turn complex policy, legal, regulatory and operational information into simple, user-friendly content.
  • Create and improve content such as service guidance, forms, notifications, error messages, prototypes and content patterns.
  • Map user journeys and content flows to identify gaps, risks and dependencies.
  • Promote accessibility, inclusion, plain English and user-centred content practices.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Content Designer within Central Government services, working to GDS standards and service assessments.
  • Strong track record of leading content design for complex digital services, shaping content approaches and delivering user-centred outcomes across Discovery and Alpha phases.
  • Expertise in creating clear, accessible content, including content audits, journey mapping, prototyping, forms, guidance, notifications and service copy.
  • Skilled at translating complex policy, regulatory and operational information into plain English content that meets user and business needs.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility, inclusion and evidence-based design.

  • Salary ranging from £50.000 to £70.000 / year.
  • Hybrid working model - 2 / 3 days onsite per week in Edinburgh.
