About the Opportunity

My client is a global organisation and this role will be supporting a wide range of industries across the UK and Ireland. They deliver essential, high-quality operational services and are invested in modernising their enterprise-scale IT environment over the coming years. They are looking for a skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their small technical team.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, technical ownership and being part of shaping future-state platforms. You’ll influence key decisions, support major improvement initiatives and help modernise legacy infrastructure while ensuring high availability and strong security standards.

The Role

As Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will:

  • Maintain and enhance core IT infrastructure to ensure high availability.
  • Support and enforce infrastructure processes including security and change control.
  • Own and test the UK IT Business Continuity Plan.
  • Lead improvements that reduce technical debt and remove legacy technologies.
  • Assist cross-functional teams with both project delivery and operational support.
  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement and platform evolution.

Technical Skills Required

Experience across several of the following is beneficial:

  • Windows Server, hardware, clustering, networking
  • VMware and/or Hyper-V
  • Enterprise storage, switching and server infrastructure (HPE advantageous)
  • Remote datacentre operations
  • Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, Netscaler
  • MS SQL basics (HA, queries)
  • PowerShell or similar scripting tools
  • Strong grasp of security best practice and compliance

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience designing and delivering infrastructure projects
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
  • Ability to influence technical direction in fast-moving environments
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Willingness to mentor and support 1st/2nd line teams
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience in manufacturing, operations or multinational environments (desirable)
  • Degree or relevant certifications welcomed but not essential
