We are seeking a Senior Cloud & Server Engineer to assist in the development and delivery of modern, reliable Cloud & Server solutions. This role involves working closely with the Cloud & Server Lead and Architect to ensure seamless and consistent delivery of services to agreed Service Level Agreements and technical standards. This is a hands-on technical role requiring extensive experience in various cloud platforms, server architectures, and cybersecurity solutions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Collaborate with the Cloud & Server Lead to align technical resources to work streams and ensure consistent service delivery.
- Engage in hands-on technical tasks involving cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure IaaS, hybrid server environments, and virtualisation infrastructures including Microsoft Hyper-V & VMware.
- Manage and deliver projects from conception to completion, including designing, testing, and implementing new solutions as well as upgrading existing ones.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify technical requirements, develop designs, and allocate resources for new systems or services.
- Provide mentorship and support to the wider DDaT Teams, ensuring efficient and effective documentation and support for solutions post-implementation.
- Identify areas for efficiency and cost savings through the commissioning and decommissioning of systems and services.
- Ensure the delivery of projects with cloud and server components within agreed quality standards and timelines.
- Act as a Senior Cloud & Server Engineer on call out of hours to support DDaT activities, as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience as a Senior Cloud & Server Engineer or similar role.
- Profound knowledge of cloud platforms & architecture, including Microsoft Azure IaaS, and on-premise & hybrid server infrastructures.
- Experience with virtualisation environments, Microsoft Windows Server roles, Microsoft 365, and cybersecurity solutions.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to develop effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrable experience in network infrastructure, including on-premise, cloud services, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environments.
- Ability to handle complex technical and interpersonal issues effectively.
