Service Desk Engineer

Service Desk Engineer

Manchester/Hybrid, 3 days in the office

£30,000 to £35,400

Two Service Desk Engineers are required to join a highly regarded public sector organisation with an established and supportive IT team in Manchester. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on with technology and working directly with people. It’s not a telephone-only Service Desk role. You’ll provide a combination of deskside, walk-up and remote support, helping users at all levels, including senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing hands-on desktop and remote IT support

Supporting Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Teams and MFA

Building, configuring and troubleshooting laptops and other hardware

Supporting video conferencing and collaboration technology

Resolving incidents and service requests in line with agreed SLAs

Delivering a professional and friendly service to users

Contributing ideas to improve processes and the overall customer experience

Experience required:

You’ll have previous experience within Service Desk, Desktop Support or EUC, with genuine hands-on and face-to-face support experience.

Just as importantly, you’ll be brilliant with people. We’re looking for someone calm, articulate and customer-focused who takes pride in providing an excellent service and is comfortable supporting senior stakeholders.

Experience working within an ITIL environment would be beneficial but isn’t essential.

The team is going through an exciting period of technology and Service Desk transformation, with investment in new systems, ITIL training and continual improvement. There are also excellent longer-term opportunities to develop into other areas of technology.

Please note: Candidates must be available to attend an on-site interview and assessment in Manchester on either Wednesday 21 October or Thursday 22 October 2026 (Date TBC)
