Service Desk Technician - 12-Month FTC
Reed Technology is supporting a company in Larbert to recruit a Service Desk Technician on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.
In this role, you'll provide first and second-line IT support across a diverse technology environment, troubleshooting user issues, administering Microsoft technologies and devices, managing user accounts, and supporting technology deployments, service improvements, and project work.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day IT support to employees across the business.
- Resolve issues relating to laptops, desktops, mobile devices, software, and user accounts.
- Set up, configure, and maintain Windows devices and business applications.
- Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID environments.
- Manage new starter, leaver, and internal employee change requests.
- Assist with device deployments, upgrades, and replacement programmes.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues including VPN, Wi-Fi, and network access problems.
- Log, update, and manage support tickets, ensuring excellent customer service throughout.
- Keep IT documentation, asset records, and knowledge articles up to date.
- Work closely with the wider IT team to escalate and resolve more complex issues.
- Take ownership of tasks and be a self-starter who can work independently when required.
- Identify ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance the overall user experience.
Skills and Experience
- Experience providing IT support in a Service Desk, Helpdesk, or Desktop Support environment.
- Good knowledge of Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID.
- Experience setting up and supporting laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of hardware, software, and user issues.
- Understanding of VPN, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking, and general connectivity troubleshooting.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Able to manage workload effectively and prioritise competing tasks.
- A proactive approach with a willingness to take ownership and see issues through to resolution.
- Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to improve IT services and processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
What's on offer?
- Salary of up to £33,000.
- 12-month fixed-term contract.
- Primarily office-based role, working on-site Monday to Thursday.
- Hybrid working on Fridays, with a half-day schedule and a 12:30pm finish.
