Service Transition Lead

A law enforcement organisation based in London is delivering a major transformation programme designed to modernise and streamline core business services through the implementation of new technology, standardised processes and a data-driven operating model.

We are seeking an experienced Service Transition Lead, to play a key role in ensuring new services, processes and capabilities are successfully transitioned from programme delivery into sustainable business-as-usual operations.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most significant public sector transformation programmes, helping to improve operational effectiveness and support the future of policing in London.

This is an initial 12-month based at Holborn with hybrid working (3 days per week onsite, 2 days working from home), the role has a daily rate up to £600 per day via an Umbrella company (inside IR35).

The Role

As Service Transition Lead, you will provide leadership and expertise across service transition activities. You will work closely with programme leads, service owners, SMEs and business stakeholders to ensure new services are designed, delivered and embedded effectively.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing transition plans, managing risks and dependencies, coordinating multiple workstreams and supporting the successful adoption of new ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of service transition plans
  • Support go-to-market activities for new services and the implementation of a new core ERP platform.
  • Coordinate and oversee contributions from Service Leads and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Ensure effective integration of services across programme workstreams.
  • Conduct service readiness assessments and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage risks, issues, dependencies and transition milestones throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Support Project Leads in establishing sustainable business-as-usual operating models.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and manage expectations across a diverse group of senior stakeholders.
  • Champion continuous improvement, standardisation and best practice across the programme.
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing to support successful programme outcomes.

Experience

  • Proven experience leading service transition, service design or implementation activities within a complex organisation.
  • Strong background working within large-scale transformation, change or programme environments.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders across various business functions.
  • Excellent project management and PMO disciplines with the ability to deliver at pace.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating risks and managing programme interdependencies.
  • Ability to influence, challenge and build effective relationships at all organisational levels.
  • Experience supporting services into operational business ownership and BAU environments.
