- Location: UK (Remote) - Occasional visits once per quarter
- Job Type: Full-time - 3-year Fixed Term Contract
A new exciting, fixed term contract opportunity has become available to join a leading UK housing and social care provider. They're seeking an experienced Software Tester to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of digital products that support their colleagues, customers, and communities across the UK.
Day-to-day of the role:
Test Planning & Execution:
- Develop test plans and test cases from requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Execute functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and usability testing.
- Validate software against business requirements and expected user outcomes.
- Ensure testing activities are completed within agreed sprint and release timescales.
Defect Management:
- Identify, document, and prioritise software defects using Azure DevOps.
- Work closely with Developers to investigate issues and validate fixes.
- Support regression testing to ensure changes do not introduce new defects.
- Provide clear evidence and documentation to support issue resolution.
Collaboration & Delivery:
- Work alongside Product Owners, Developers, UX designers, and Business Analysts throughout delivery.
- Participate in sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Help ensure requirements are testable, complete, and clearly understood.
- Support successful releases through thorough validation and quality assurance.
Continuous Improvement:
- Maintain accurate testing documentation and test evidence.
- Contribute ideas to improve testing standards, processes, and quality practices.
- Keep up to date with emerging testing techniques, tools, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities where automation could improve efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Manual/Automation Software Testing or Quality Assurance within an Agile software delivery environment.
- Experience creating and executing structured test plans and test cases.
- Experience using defect management tools such as Azure DevOps or similar.
- Experience of API testing would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Exposure to automated testing tools or frameworks (such as Playwright or Appium) would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) would be considered advantageous but is not essential.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passionate about delivering high-quality software.
