Solutions Architect

SOLUTION ARCHITECT, DV SECURITY CLEARANCE, HYBRID

My client, a leading organisation within the public sector, is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to work on a hybrid basis, with travel across UK sites when required.

As a member of the Architecture team, you will support the Senior Architect in delivering enterprise-level design and technical expertise across a range of complex ICT projects. You will play a key role in ensuring systems, infrastructure, and services are secure, scalable, and aligned with strategic objectives.

You will be responsible for designing, leading, and delivering high-quality technical solutions, while balancing competing demands and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and document “As-Is” and “To-Be” architectures across multiple projects
  • Develop detailed technical solution designs, ensuring alignment with business needs, security standards, and strategic architecture
  • Lead the software development lifecycle, including design, build, implementation, and quality assurance
  • Produce architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and implementation plans
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Manage and coordinate development teams, ensuring delivery is on track and meets quality standards
  • Identify and mitigate architectural risks and technical debt across programmes
  • Conduct technical experiments and validations to support design decisions
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture frameworks and cross-project dependencies
  • Maintain strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience in solution and application architecture, including working with frameworks such as TOGAF
  • Extensive hands-on development experience (e.g. .NET Core, ASP.NET, Blazor)
  • Strong knowledge of databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL technologies)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and well-architected frameworks
  • Solid understanding of Linux, networking, and virtualisation (VMware)
  • Expertise in designing Microsoft environments (Windows Server, Active Directory, GPO, PKI)
  • Experience designing secure, high-availability systems and infrastructure
  • Knowledge of network technologies (Cisco, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, security controls)
  • Familiarity with Agile and ITIL methodologies
  • Experience producing documentation suitable for high-security accreditation environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members

Additional Requirements:

  • Understanding of Government Security Classifications and security frameworks
  • Experience working in secure environments and with accreditation processes
  • Eligibility for DV (STRAP) Security Clearance is essential
  • Willingness to travel to UK sites as required
