  • £600-£650 per day via Umbrella
  • 6 months initial contract
  • 2 days per month at either Gatwick or Cardiff site

Join a recognised world leader in regulatory and safety innovation. We are seeking a hands-on Technical Team Lead to spearhead our Future of Technology initiative. This role offers the chance to lead a team of talented engineers, drive technical innovation, and develop digital systems that significantly impact national safety and standards.

Note: This role requires eligibility for SC (Security Check) clearance. The minimum requirements include at least five years of continuous UK residency, no criminal record, and a clean credit history (no bankruptcies, CCJs, or significant unsecured debt). Day-to-Day of the Role

  • Lead & Develop a High Performing Team:
    • Mentor engineers and technical specialists, fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and high-quality engineering.
    • Champion DevOps, automation testing, and agile principles within the team.
    • Represent the team within Software Engineering and ISD leadership forums.
  • Drive Technical Delivery:
    • Lead the development of systems supporting regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure compliance with architecture, security, and accessibility standards.
    • Oversee scalable CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
    • Represent the department in our Technical Design Forum.
  • Collaborate & Influence:
    • Bridge regulatory stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams.
    • Advocate for agile and DevOps methodologies.
    • Work closely with the Head of Software Engineering to prioritise delivery of critical systems.
  • Innovate & Improve:
    • Introduce emerging technologies relevant to digital safety systems.
    • Enhance automation frameworks, cloud platforms, and CI/CD capabilities.
    • Continuously refine workflows for security, scalability, performance, and sustainability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading software engineering and DevOps teams.
  • Strong proficiency in ASP.NET, C#.NET, .NET Core, MVC, Web API, Entity Framework, React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Hangfire.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps and modern DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of accessibility, UI/UX, and responsive design.
  • Strong grasp of secure coding and code review best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience writing unit tests.
  • Deployment experience using containers (Docker, AKS).
  • Experience with Azure cloud services.
