Technical Lead (Python & Django)

• Contract Length: 12 Months
• IR35 Status: Inside IR35
• Location: Hybrid working, 40% office attendance (approximately 2 days per week)
• Day Rate: Up to £720 per day (Umbrella)
• Location: London

Join a high-profile government digital programme as a Technical Lead with expertise in Python and Django. This role involves developing and enhancing critical services that support the UK's export control and licensing processes, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Design, develop, and deliver scalable software solutions using Python and Django.
• Build secure, maintainable, and test-driven applications.
• Translate user needs and business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Support and enhance live services, ensuring performance, stability, and resilience.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions.
• Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Designers, and Developers within agile teams.
• Drive engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance.
• Lead or contribute to multiple workstreams and user journeys.
• Support system integration activities across complex services.
• Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge across teams.
• Continuously improve processes, tooling, and ways of working.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Extensive commercial Python development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Django.
• Proven capability in system design and software architecture.
• Experience designing and delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Strong understanding of modern engineering practices and coding standards.
• Experience working within agile multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience developing secure, scalable, and resilient services.
• Strong knowledge of testing, debugging, and quality assurance practices.
• Minimum 5 years' experience, ideally 8-10+ years for Senior Developer and Technical Lead positions.
