WINTEL Design Engineer – Defence Sector (SC/ DV)

Rate : £600 p/day (inside IR35) 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior WINTEL Infrastructure Design Engineer / Subject Matter Expert to join a high-profile defence programme. This is a critical role supporting deployable classified systems for a secure military customer. 

This position involves design, implementation, and support of secure WINTEL environments, contributing to the development and deployment of operational infrastructure across multiple security domains. You will play a key role in incident resolution, change management, and delivering robust technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement WINTEL infrastructure solutions for secure environments.
• Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for system capabilities.
• Update design documentation and create build guides for WINTEL systems.
• Analyse and evaluate solutions to enhance performance and security.
• Collaborate with third parties and resolver groups to implement service changes and resolve Level 3 incidents.
• Support product selection and deployment for customer projects.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong expertise in Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016.
• Active Directory & Group Policy management, design, and support.
• Virtualisation experience with Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware.
• Proficiency in Windows Server technologies: Skype for Business, Exchange 2016, MIM, SharePoint, SQL.
• Knowledge of security technologies: Trellix AV/ePolicy Orchestrator, DPM, VMM.
• Experience in documentation and design, including Agile delivery.
• Advanced PowerShell and scripting skills.
• Microsoft SCCM/MECM management and troubleshooting.
