About the Role

My client is looking for a Workplace Technology Engineer to join their internal IT team, supporting and enhancing a modern Microsoft 365 digital workplace.

This is a hands-on 2nd line role where you’ll take ownership of core workplace technologies, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and deliver an excellent user experience across the business. You’ll work closely with both technical teams and end users, playing a key role in maintaining and improving day-to-day IT operations.

This position is ideal for someone with strong 2nd line support experience looking to move into a broader workplace engineering role with exposure to automation, modern collaboration tools, and emerging technologies like Microsoft Copilot.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the ongoing administration and support of Microsoft 365 services, endpoint management, and workplace tools, while contributing to improvements in productivity, security, and user enablement.

Alongside support responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in low-code automation (Power Platform) and help drive adoption of new tooling across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd line support for Microsoft 365 workplace tools and services
  • Administer and support:
    • Exchange Online
    • Microsoft Teams
    • SharePoint Online
    • OneDrive for Business
    • Entra ID (Azure AD) [cala.co.uk]
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, licensing, and group configurations
  • Support endpoint management using Intune and related tools
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage incidents
  • Work closely with service desk teams to resolve escalated issues
  • Build and support Power Apps and Power Automate workflows to improve processes
  • Assist with governance of the Power Platform (permissions, environments, policies)
  • Contribute to documentation, user guidance, and best practices

Emerging Technology Exposure

  • Support readiness for Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI-driven workplace tools
  • Assist with early use cases and adoption of low-code automation solutions
  • Help ensure secure and compliant use of new technologies across the organisation

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in a 2nd line IT support role
  • Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 in a business environment
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Experience managing users, permissions, and access
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

Desirable

  • Experience with Intune / endpoint management
  • Exposure to Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Understanding of Power Platform governance
  • Experience supporting modern workplace or digital transformation initiatives
  • Interest in automation, AI tools, or process improvement
