The roleAs Lead Software Engineer, you will take ownership of Linkam’s software platforms, leading a skilled Software Team to deliver production-quality software used to control instruments and capture critical scientific data.
You’ll remain hands-on in development while also providing technical leadership, working across the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment. The role offers variety, technical depth and the chance to influence both new feature development and legacy systems.
Core technologies include C# and C, operating within a robust, source-controlled codebase.
Key responsibilitiesLead and manage the Software Team within an Agile development environment
Deliver software across the full SDLC, from concept through to release and support
Design, develop and test new functionality for Linkam’s software platforms
Maintain and improve existing and legacy software products
Ensure solutions are well-structured, testable and production-ready
Investigate, diagnose and resolve software bugs
Support customer technical queries where required
Deliver projects in line with agreed schedules and business priorities
5 years’ software development experience
2 years’ experience with both C# and C
1 year managing a software team using Agile methodologies
Strong knowledge of version control systems (Git / SVN)
Experience developing C applications in Linux using makefiles and GCC
Strong experience with Visual Studio IDEs
Experience developing WPF applications for Windows
Firmware programming experience (or willingness to learn)
Microprocessor C programming
Device communications via USB, Serial or Ethernet
Experience with multi-project solutions in Visual Studio
Image processing knowledge
Exposure to IT systems, business systems or website support
