Infrastructure Engineer

RegGenome is a regulatory data technology company and a leader in the field of computational regulation, changing how the world produces and consumes regulatory information. As a regulatory data provider, we process the world’s regulation using AI to transform what is human-readable into machine-readable and machine-consumable data. RegGenome is a commercial spin-out of the Regulatory Genome Project (RGP), a pioneering public-private partnership with the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, that aims to build universal information structures for describing regulation to create a regulatory commons.

Our team benefits from a strong connection to the University, bringing together deep expertise in scaling tech start-ups, developing NLP/ML models, and collaborating with regulatory communities.

Backed by £15 million in funding, we have established a solid product-market fit and are experiencing significant commercial traction with global regulatory bodies and prominent international financial organisations. Building on this momentum, we are now nearing the completion of our Series A funding round and preparing to expand our team across all areas. This is an exciting moment to join us on our journey as we leverage AI to create a world-leading repository for regulatory information.

What we are looking for:

To support our ambitious growth plans, we’re hiring a Mid-Level Infrastructure Engineer to join our remote-first, cross-functional tech team of software engineers, data scientists, and ML specialists. Our core platform processes millions of regulatory documents through hundreds of machine learning models, supporting a rapidly growing repository of global regulations.

In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with our Principal Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and scale our cloud-native infrastructure. You’ll manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters, improve CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, and help ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our systems. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong software engineering mindset looking to deepen their expertise in infrastructure and DevOps as part of a fast-growing, mission-driven company.

About you:

You’re someone who thrives on solving complex problems and making things work better. You care deeply about building systems that are reliable, efficient, and scalable, and you enjoy the process of learning as much as the outcome. You're curious, resourceful, and not afraid to dive into unfamiliar territory.

You’re collaborative by nature, enjoy bouncing ideas off others, and value clear communication. You take ownership of your work, hold yourself to high standards, and are motivated by building products that matter.

You’re comfortable in ambiguity, energised by growth, and excited about being part of a mission-driven team working at the intersection of technology and real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform/OpenTofu.
  • Manage container orchestration with Kubernetes—including writing and debugging deployments.
  • Collaborate on infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
  • Deploy and manage infrastructure on AWS or GCP (deep expertise in at least one is required).
  • Maintain and optimize databases and application performance.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in TypeScript or Python, or strong willingness to learn.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Terraform/OpenTofu.
  • Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge in either AWS or GCP.

Nice to Have:

  • Monitoring stack tools: Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Alertmanager, Grafana.
  • CI/CD experience with FluxCD (or ArgoCD).
  • Database performance optimization and management experience.

Qualities We Value:

  • Solution-oriented mindset with a knack for solving tough problems.
  • Openness to learning and a self-driven approach to mastering new technologies.
  • Strong communication skills and team collaboration.
  • Background in software development—ideal for engineers transitioning into infrastructure.
