Software Engineering Apprentice
Software Engineers at Renishaw work to develop and create computer software and systems which help to operate our products. Our Software Apprentices follow a structured 4-year programme which includes studying for the BSc Digital and Technology Solutions, specialising in Software Engineering.
Role
Year 1 of the apprenticeship is initially spent in a dedicated training programme which is designed to build; core programming skills; general software design techniques (such as object-oriented programming and design methodologies); the Microsoft development environment; project management and software development lifecycles including the Agile processes, testing and deployment, and distributed development (remote working).
The remaining years will be spent in placements within Renishaw’s product teams where you will work on real projects and products, with the aim of entering a specialist area of industry within the company. You are likely to experience at least three different placements giving you a varied insight into professional software development and the different market sectors that Renishaw operates in.
Training
Following the completion of the apprenticeship you will transfer off the scheme into a role and division within Renishaw where there will be continued improvement and development of your skills and knowledge.
For the right candidates, continued study towards higher or degree apprenticeships is supported where relevant. Achieving merits and distinctions during the Level 3 modules will be a requirement for progression.
