Data Engineer (Snowflake)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with deep expertise in Snowflake to join a growing Data & Analytics function. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in designing, developing and optimising an enterprise data platform that underpins business intelligence, reporting and analytics across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable, high-performance data solutions within Snowflake, designing robust data architectures, and developing modern data pipelines that transform data into trusted, business-ready information. This role will work closely with both technical and business stakeholders to deliver a best-in-class cloud data platform.

Candidates must have previous experience working within a Law Firm or Professional Services environment, with an understanding of complex business data, governance and stakeholder requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain an enterprise data platform centred around Snowflake.
  • Build and optimise scalable dimensional data models to support enterprise-wide reporting and analytics.
  • Develop high-performance ELT pipelines and data transformation processes within Snowflake.
  • Optimise Snowflake virtual warehouses for performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Design and maintain production-grade data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and other Azure technologies.
  • Analyse existing data sources and recommend improvements to data architecture and engineering practices.
  • Implement robust data quality, testing, monitoring and deployment processes.
  • Manage security within Snowflake, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), data masking and governance policies.
  • Work alongside BI teams to ensure data models support performant Power BI reporting and self-service analytics.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices including CI/CD, coding standards, documentation and version control.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Extensive commercial experience as a Data Engineer with Snowflake as your primary cloud data platform.
  • Expert knowledge of Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, administration and optimisation.
  • Strong experience designing enterprise-scale data warehouses and dimensional data models.
  • Proven experience developing ELT pipelines and transformations within Snowflake.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for orchestration and data ingestion.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, enterprise data models, data dictionaries and data governance.
  • Experience working with Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
  • Excellent SQL skills and a strong understanding of cloud-based data engineering best practices.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Essential Industry Experience

Applications will only be considered from candidates who have experience working within:

  • Law Firms, or
  • Professional Services organisations (e.g. Legal, Accountancy, Consulting, Financial Advisory or similar).

Experience working within regulated or partnership-based organisations is highly desirable.

Desirable
  • Microsoft Azure certifications.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data engineering.
  • Experience with data governance and master data management.
  • Knowledge of modern cloud data architectures and analytics platforms.
